Antarctic Penguins

Did you know that penguins are not birds of the North? Penguins are not birds of the North Ocean but they are birds of the Southern Ocean.

When penguins come ashore they stand upright. When penguins come ashore they stand upright and take small waddling steps on their short legs.

The temperature drops below freezing. In the long antarctic winter the sun does not rise.

Finding the tens in a number

This afternoon my maths class has been learning how to find the tens in a number.

My Antarctica Whale

Whales live in a group called a pod. The male whales are called bulls, females are called cows and also the baby whales are called calves.

The Whales at Antarctica have enormous mouths and long jaw bones teeth. They have a thick layer of fat called blubber that keeps them warm.

Did you know that the whales that have no teeth are called baleen whales? Also the the whales that have teeth are called the toothed whales.

WILL.I.AM at my school

Wow Will.I.Am!Yesterday Pt England had the best day because guess what?Will.I.Am came to Pt England school and when he came into the hall we were so shocked when he came in because when Mr Burt asked us have you seen “Black Eyed Peas”.Then every-one started to say yes and that when we knew Will.I.Am was coming.

When Will.I.Am was walking in the hall he went and sat down then Patrick went up to the mike and he was talking in maori and english suddenly the Kapa Haka performed and it was so cool because they were singing and doing cool actions.That Was Amazing!Then the Hip Hoppers went up to perform but before they performed Vivian Alofi went up to the mike and speaked.

After that Will.I.am   was talking to the school about his life.Then Will.I.Am showed us the boared that had the donation on it and it was so shocking for us because we did’nt get that much money from a famous person before.When he showed us the board he was talking about something the this lady and this man that was from the Hallenstein Brother they gave him this little box that had something in it.

Finally we sang the Strive to Succeed song to Will.I.Am.It was exciting singing the song to the famous person because I think he liked it when we were singing the school song to him.

Antarctic Seals

W.A.L.T-We are learning to summarize the main points of paragraphs

Alls seals that live at the Antarctic are so fast in the sea but they are clumsy in the land. Seals born their pups on ice at the Antarctic.They haul themselves up to the ice so they can born to their pups.

Seals are mammals that live in oceans all over the world. All of the seals at the Antarctic are non-eared.The seals have lots of blubber to keep them warm.

Seals have thick,short hair on their streamlined body, to keep them warm.They have flippers to help them be superb swimmers. Most of the time seals are in the sea. 

In Antarctica there is 30 million Crabeater seals.They eat krill instead of crabs.

At the Antarctic there is Leopard seals. Did you know that the Leopard seals hunt penguins under water. Penguins at the Antarctic are not afraid of them when they are on ice because Leopard seals have no legs and they are not fast.

Did you know that the Weddell seals spend the whole time in winter at the antarctica. The other seals go to warm parts of the southern ocean.
